Ahok Former Governor of DKI Jakarta Officially Remission of Christmas 2017

JAKARTA - Former Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok officially got a special remission of Christmas Day 2017, from the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. Remission in the convicted defamation case has been signed by Head of Regional Office of Ministry of Law and Human Rights of DKI Jakarta. Thursday, December 21, 2017.

"Ahok officially get a remission of Christmas, 15 days of detention because Ahok is considered eligible for beris remission," said Head of Public Relations Directorate General of Correctional and Human Rights Ministry Adek Kusmanto, Friday, December 22, 2017. As quoted by CNNIndonesia.com.

Adek said, the granting remission or cutting Ahok's detention is in accordance with the rules set forth in the Government Regulation (PP) No. 99 of 2012 Terms and Procedures for the Implementation of Rights of Residents Correctional Penitentiary.

In addition, Ahok has also served a six-month detention period, since he was detained on May 9, 2017 and detained at Mako Brimob, Kelapa Dua, Depok. However, Ahok is also a prisoner of Cipinang prison.

"Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or who is often called Ahok during his sentence. He always behaves well and follows the rules of discipline of Rutan well to fellow citizens and officers," he said.

At that time, Ahok tela was sentenced to 2 years in prison by the North Jakarta District Court judge, May 2017 for proving to blaspheme religion in Kepulauan Seribu in September 2016.
